Standing Oaks
Standing Oaks is a permanent residential home for nine medically fragile individuals. Standing Oaks opened its doors in February 2004. Located at 1212 Michigan Ave. Sarnia, in a park-like setting, this ambitious undertaking was the result of a partnership between The Ontario March of Dimes, The Rotary Foundation, The Ministry of Health (Long-Term Care Division), and CCMF. Countless hours and dollars from all sectors of the Sarnia-Lambton community made this extraordinary endeavor come to fruition. It was built with 6 bedrooms; 5 of which were for permanent residents with the 6th being dedicated to respite care for families caring for their medically fragile child in their own home. Offering plenty of living space and amenities for the residents to be able to live comfortably, it is also a very inviting home for the residents’ families and friends, to visit both in and outdoors.
Standing Oaks is staffed 24/7 with health care professionals that meet the medical, emotional and basic needs of the residents. CCMF is extremely proud of the quality of care that the Ontario March of Dimes provides to the residents.
In 2017, it became apparent that there was a great demand for additional beds at Standing Oaks. After months of careful planning and consultation, a large-scale expansion was endeavoured. The building addition was completed in 2018 with 4 additional bedrooms, a larger laundry room, more storage, another bathroom, and expanded living space.
It is difficult to capture the level of dedication and hard work of so many individuals that was necessary to make the dream of Standing Oaks come true.
